How To Pray Effectively

Praying out of faith and not by fear:  So what should we do, we may ask? This information is to help us become a winner with our prayers. Watch them begin to find answers, the answers for which we prayed.  It is imperative that we pray for the answer and not the problem. I like to tell others that wrong prayer brings defeat, but correct prayer brings victory. In a manner of speaking, we will be calling forth what we desire, except we will be asking God directly for what we need and not doing it ourselves.  I do suggest we also call forth what it is that we want, in terms of an affirmation, knowing that we have the full control and authority from God to call things forth, so why not through prayer.  When we pray, we also personally hand our desires to the Lord, and He will take over immediately — that’s His promise. God hears our voice clearly. But, be careful of any open-ended praying.

For example: open-ended prayer can lead to defeat.  Why?  One good reason could be because we are praying aloud for the problem instead of the answer.  In most cases, this is what happens. Therefore, we are so involved in the negative side of our issue, that we pray with the wrong emphasis.  Yes, we have placed emphasis on our problem instead of our desired answer. Opened-ended prayer is open-ended to Satan for his quick intervention.  Satan will benefit by our words without us being obedient to the direction and instruction of God’s Holy Scriptures. A prayer of faith (emphasis on the answer) and not fear (emphasis on the problem), is heard by God. So, guess who hears the other? Remember: God equals positive/answer, and Satan equals negative/problem.  That, I do believe, is fairly easy to keep in mind and not forget.  Agreed?

There are spiritual principles and faith principles; we must learn the difference when interpreting Scripture along with our prayers.  This is also very important.  By faith we ask for what we need without doubting that we will get it.  This is a faith principle.  Jesus gave us examples of spiritual principles like what we find in Mark 11:23.  A spiritual principle is how we pray to receive what we ask for, but not actually praying for what we want at that time. This is a spiritual principle.  By faith without doubt we ask for what we need, this is a faith principle; and a spiritual principle is how we pray about what we ask without really needing it at that time.

If we pray our problem, it will grow greater and things will get worse, but if we pray the answer, then we actually release the answer, and our problem will be solved – it’s God’s promise to us.  Remember:  God’s word is His will toward man, but our words should be our will toward God. And, don’t forget that the Devil will always deceive us, if he hears our heart’s desires shared with him out loud, while praying out our fears instead of praying out of faith! So, shame on us. That is his job and if he doesn’t do it, well then, he is highly remiss and we might get off the hook—but we don’t, he is much too clever for us. Fear is the exact opposite of faith and as such, is diametrically opposed to faith.  Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) says, “That faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  This verse does not say that “fear” is the substance of things hoped for, does it?  No!  So your emphasis is on faith.

If faith is the substance of the things we desire, then fear is the substance of things not desired.  Agreed?  Either fear or faith will cause things to change.  I believe that fear is when we allow Satan to infest our thoughts, or when Satan’s thoughts become what we think about, meditate over and hear repeatedly in our minds — those negatives which are fears.  Fear is a force, which produces exactly what we don’t desire.  So, we must resist praying negatively, and start leaving out the bad words, and substituting them with good words.  Scripture says we are to pray for what we desire. Please say that last sentence three or four times, and say it aloud so you can hear it and get it into your head. And, when we pray for what we desire, we do it with faith; we must be encapsulated in faith or we will not receive what we want.

We must be careful to not sacrifice ourselves or someone else to obtain what we want.  Jesus was the only sacrifice that had to be offered to bring us closer to God. Don’t ask God or promise Him that if you or someone else does something, then you will somehow comply with something God would probably want you to do.  Don’t pray that, please. . .for your own sake.  Do not pray for whatever it takes to make something happen, and we should not say for God to take away certain things in order that we can achieve our desire — we must simply ask for our desire – God already knows our heart.  Mark 11:24 (NIV) says, “Whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them.” And also “. . .all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”  Matthew 21:22 (NKJV)  Its essential that we stay away from any negative words and thinking, the things that target and subvert our prayers. Our goal is to pray effectively!

Pray the answer and not the problem!  If we pray the problem, we will have whatever we say, even in prayer.  Pray God’s way, not Satan’s way.  WE must close up the gaps in our prayer/s and be specific, and not sacrifice (when it is totally not necessary — God knows our mind and our needs) but we must be grateful for what we are already going to get — it’s on the way!  This principle is one for us to definitely be careful of, it’s easy to violate if we are not thinking clearly or if we still don’t know how to pray. Our hearts produce either faith or fear, right?  So, depending on what we feed our heart, we will get an answer for our faith,  or for our fear.  Therefore, we will begin to believe what we pray.  Make sense?  If we pray the problem, we will believe the problem more than we believe the answer, and voila!  Guess what we get?

We should start praying a prayer like this example below, or learn one on our own that meets this criteria — it’s what God would want to hear, and it’s what we will need to say to get what we want. . .without any outside interference. Trust me!  Try it!  Sure is funny how it works, right?  And, if it didn’t work for us, then we can be absolutely sure that we still had doubts and that our belief was not at the level it should have been.  I guanantee you that you should have received the answer you were looking for. If you didn’t have any doubts, and if you did totally believe, and if you let go, trusting God to take over then you got your request.  If you had done this, well, you would have been successful with your prayer request.  Oh, you say that is easy for me to say because I am a Christian, and if it doesn’t work, I can just make a comment like what I just did?  Only say that it was God’s will.  No, not really.  I claim what I say as accurate because I followed God’s blueprint to the letter and trusted Him 100% without a single doubt that would cloud the process of my prayer.  You simply have to let go and let God do His thing for you.  Try this prayer below
.
Your Prayer:  Oh Father, in the name of Jesus, the presence and existence of Your Holy Word in my mind and heart, has brought clarity to me.  Because Your word has said it, I believe it; and from this hour forth, I will pray my desires.  I will rebuke the problem. I will speak to it, and tell it to be gone! I will speak only words of faith to You and rebuke every thought and word of fear.

Father, I further repent of all the foolish prayers I have prayed, of all the things I have set into motion, which would work against me because of my ignorance and misunderstanding of Your word.  With the authority of my words, I break the power of every foolish word, which I have spoken, in Christ’s Holy name, of which You have already given me the power to do. I claim victory with my faith and belief, and compel all evil forces around me to scatter to the wind or descend into the depths of the deepest oceans, and no longer bother me or anyone else.

No evil will befall me.  Neither shall any affliction, disease of sickness come upon my home and family.  You have given Your angels charge over me and they keep me in all my ways, strong and loyal to You.  In my pathway there is nothing but life, there is no death; only sunlight without darkness.  I am a doer of Your word, and You bless me in my deeds.  I stop every force that has been set in motion by my foolish words. I promise not to allow myself to dwell on anything involving the thinking of sickness or depression, pain and agony, or feelings of utter despair and being lost to Your holy presence, forgetting Christ’s most propitious sacrifice for me.

I ask Your forgiveness and mercy and I receive Your forgiveness and mercy now, even before I finish this prayer and complete the full thoughts of my words.  You understand and instantly comply for my sake.  I will watch carefully my mouth and speak only that which is decent and moral.  No corrupt communication will proceed from my mouth in prayer, or in my speech with others.  I will speak only that which is good for edifying and ministering Your grace to those who hear my words.  I will not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, but make Him joyous and happy.

Now Father God, in Jesus’ Holy name, I proclaim that I am delivered from the powers of darkness and I am standing in the liberty of the Lord Jesus Christ, and walking in victory, for the Greater One lives within me.  In Christ’s name may this be so and be accepted. May all the glory of this moment, and those beyond and after, go to You. I magnify Your Holy name above all others, the imposters of this Age and place, present and past.  In Your Precious Son’s name, Jesus Christ.  Amen!

Praying correctly for what you desire is the key to praying.  As you would do anything else or take some action to begin a new project, think of praying as something of the highest importance.  Something so important should be thought about ahead of time and then spoken to the Lord.  Yes, you may still have many quick and spontaneous prayers, we all do, but we also have those prayers which truly need reflection, meditation and careful thought.  We were told not to pray in vain repetitions, and we should be specific with God, not redundant.  He hears us the first time and He doesn’t require any hearing aides.  Just please, think about the words you choose when you communicate with God, especially openly.  Are you going to God in faith or in fear? He knows the needs of your heart.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6: 18 (NIV)
When I pray I talk to God.  When I don't, I think about Him.  When I think about Him, I realize I should be talking to Him.  So, I pray!                                                          Dahk Knox
